I got a ROBO 330/20 for Christmas and my main problem is what card to print and cut and what card to get to make cards that cut with the robo. I was told of one beginning with c and it looks lovely and is pearlised but it is very expensive at over £30 for 250 sheets...I do not want to put out that amount of money as I make for fun and not in that quantity. Also I do not always want to use pearlised paper. I would like about 16/180 for print and cut and 230 as that's what it says it cuts up to! I have wasted so much card I cannot afford to use any more of my good stuff.
PLEASE help me. for the card.CONF

Hi Lisa,
What about the super smooth decoupage paper? Very cut paper and would expect it to cut very good with the robo. I know create and craft sell it along with a place called crafting direct and from them it is £12 for 200 sheets. Not sure about card as I always use my local. Hope this is of some help?

Can't help as I don't have a craft robo but I hope you get sorted soon! Not sure if Tina has one but I think Debbie Lauder does!
Hope that's helpful!:D

Hi there,
I don't own a craft robo but I have a silhouette cutting machine which is made by the same company and pretty much offers the same end result.
Could I ask you, what is the paper beginning with c...... sorry to be so dense but that one has escaped me completely. Did the craft robo cut this paper/card successfully?
I don't use any special card in my machine - although I primarily use inkjet card for all my crafting just so that I get a decent print for the graphics.
The weight of card I use is 260 (I think) but I could be off the mark on this one CONF
If you started from the basics of the CR (presuming it's the same as silhouette) it comes with 3 different coloured caps that you put over the cutting blade. Make sure that you have the correct cap on the blade for the type of card you are using.
Blue cap - thin media such as thin paper, vellum etc.,
Yellow cap - medium weight media; printer paper etc.,
Pink cap - heavy weight media (this is the one that basically lives on my cutting blade)
When you are replacing the cap you will notice that there is a prominent part of the cap, this should be placed into the machine so it is at a 3o'clock position - if the cap is not precisely replaced it will not cut properly (worth checking - this one has bitten me a few times)
When you send the cutting file to the Craft Robo through Robomaster, the Craft Robo controller box will come on your screen.
The first drop down list is for you to put in your media type - Index 90lbs is a good one for card.
I have found that the machine does not like to cut card that is heavily embossed.
Underneath that, there is a check box for you to be able to adjust the settings. My settings are Speed:8 Thickness:25 - if you find that the cut is still not getting through the card, you can increase the thickness up to 33 - but if you do have the cut too heavy, you will end up going through a lot of cutting mats as it will cut both the card and the mat, so I would suggest making use of the test cut button (blue triangle in blue square) which is right next to the thickness options. This will cut both shapes into your card, but the cut is positioned so that if it doesn't work you can try again without wasting your card, and if it does work, it won't interfere with the cut of your design.
If all of this fails, another option is to copy and paste the cut lines (not the graphic) onto your page. When this is sent to the Craft Robo it will cut each line twice without resetting the paper so they will be perfectly aligned.
I hope that has helped you in some way, I do hope that you manage to get over this obstacle, because believe me you are not alone. There is not one person I know that didn't first use their machine and then either want to drop kick it out of the back door, or sit and think 'what a waste of money'. Believe me, unless there is a fault with your machine, you will get it work, and once you do, there'll be no stopping you - it will be like having your christmas present all over again..... ooooh the excitement :D

Debbie your such a star I couldn’t have put it better myself:D
I personally use anything, paper card photo card pearlised card etc as long as the blade cuts through it,
Have you seen the paper mill shop? They also have an online service; you buy a box of card for £5

Thanks so much Debbie. I was about to give up and sell. I am now about to print cut something I got from Sammy. I have some that cut super but then if the card was a wee bit thicker 200 it was no use even with 2 or three cuts. Will let you know. You are real friendly in this site. Thanks a million.

Debbie, you are a star. I sorted the blade as you said and it cut out my decoupage which it did before on dec. paper but not on card.
Also cut out a nice fiddly pram. The paper C was conquer. Expensive at £30 + for 250 sheets. I really do not want that much and want to get different colours to suit what I do.
How does Paper Mill card cut? I think I should have some but have wasted so much already including some I think was from paper mill. I really do not want to waste any more. I feel I would have been better with a Cuttle bug or big shot. At least it will cut what I put in but could not afford both and my O.H. thought this would be great ...boys and toys. Your silouette has different settings from the robo. Robo is Card with carrier, Thick media, vinyl, thin media...all english settings or whatever. It is a bit disappointing as are the instructions. I would also like to be able to use it on bits and pieces of card but that would be a challenge. I have wasted SOOO much time with this infernal thing that I am only at 5.15 going to bath and trim a dog for the show at week end when I should have done it this morning first thing!!. Off now.. Thanks again to you and Sammy . She is smashing and always such a help to idiots like me who are computer challenged.

Pleased I could help - although you still sound pretty disappointed with the CR:mad: If it's any consolation, it does get easier and much quicker. Once you have found the settings that are right, at least the Robomaster program keeps them open for the next time you use it (saves having to try and remember ;)).
Have you thought about buying some cheap card from Wilkinson, a pound shop or similar, just to practise on as long as it's not too fibrous it should be ok - I know I have card in my stash that will never get used (don't like the colours and came in a bumper pack), so if in doubt I use a bit of that first lol. That way you'll not be wasting all your lovely cardstock. There's no wonder you want to move away from conqueror - you definitely are paying for the name I'm afraid - they've built up such a reputation over the years with their bond paper etc., there are much cheaper alternatives which are just as good now.
I can't advise on papermill card, but if Sammy recommends it, it must be good, but what bundle she buys etc., I wouldn't know sorry. I must get myself on their site actually and have a nosey - lots of the ladies here recommend their card.
Well I'm pleased I helped if only a little bit - any more problems, or still the same one, don't be shy, just drop a post and we'll try and help out.
BTW - good luck with the dog, hope it didn't soak you    lol and hope it's best in show at the weekend. ;)
Til next time, best wishes

Paper mill card is good, if your going to be using it for the craft Robo you need to go to one of there shops and fill the thickness to make sure the Robo will cut it, if your buying a box on line see if they tell you the thickness before you buy it,
If you do managed to go along to one of there shops take a sample of card you know that the robo will cut out :D

Thankx Sammy. Can you tell me what type /weight you use. I got some today from PDA which looks promising but would like some coloured card..bright and pastel colours . I did try what DAwn suggested and it worked.!! Pleased. I have been getting stuff from you from way before the robo landed.
Nice site, and you are so helpful.

Blue will cut up to 100gsm
Yellow will cut up to 160/170 gsm
Red will cut up to 200/220 gsm
If you go by card thickness, the figures generally recommended (in your manual!) are:
Blue will cut up 0.1mm
Yellow will cut up 0.2mm
Red will cut up to 0.3mm
A good tip! If you have really thick card and it doesn’t cut right through the first time pop it back through the craft robo without removing it from the machine(Double Cut) it will cut the same cut again and hopefully go all the way through
