Ive got so much music and craft downloads on my computer that im nearly running out of space.
Ive heard some of you talking about a external hard drive and thought i might invest in one but had a few questions
Are they big?
How much space do they hold
Are they expensive
Are there any you would recommend
Many thanks

Hi Emma,
The newest of my external drives is 2TB (2000GB) way more than adquate lol lol and I managed to pick it up for £70. There are some good deals out there, try doing a price check on a comparison website like www.dealtime.co.uk or www.shopgenie.co.uk you won't need to be specific about the make or model - they're all pretty much the same - try searching for 500gb, then 1tb then 2tb - I think you'll be surprised how little there is in the price and the amount of extra space you get for your money. ;)
Good luck - I think it's a wise purchase, it will speed up your pc no end. :D

Hi Em, I've got a portable hard drive, not as big as the designers ones (but nowhere near as expensive either!!) I use it to store all my downloads.) It is 100GB and was only about £20!!! ;) We got it from ebay (brand new) and its only small (size of about 2 or 3 mobile phones laid next to each other!! :p) It plugs directly into my USB port on the laptop and away you go! :D That should be plenty big enough for the downloads and music you have. :D:D

I have 4 hard drives so hopefully I can give you some info on this one lol lol lol
My first ever external was a 320GB Apollo, it came from eBay and cost around £40, it’s about 8 years old and still works ok but it’s a bit noisy,
The second hard drive I brought was a 500GB buffalo external hard drive but it fell off the shelf under my computer on to the floor and doesn’t work, I only had it a week so from my experience I wouldn’t recommend it, it fell from no more than 10 cm so its very sensitive,
My third hard drive is a Seagate portable hard drive 320GB and if I remember rightly it was on offer in PC World for 49.99 it’s white and silver and it’s quite small, id say its about 1.5 cm x 8cm x 15cm Nice and small, My little Seagate portable goes everywhere with me and I’ve dropped it hundreds of time so it’s quite robust:cool: i'm not to sure if they still do the 30GB cos i couldnt find it but here's the link to the 500GB version, http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0622943782.126683439 7@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccjadejjkfeffecflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=020593&category_oid=
My newest hard drive is a 1TB desktop Seagate which was on offer for £65 from PC World, it’s quiet and the size of 3 DVD case’s put together so it doesn’t take up much space,
Here's the link for you to have a peek http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0622943782.126683439 7@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccjadejjkfeffecflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=921243&category_oid=#productInformationSection
So all in all if I was to recommend any make it would be a Seagate, go online and reserve one at PC World because they always do web exclusives and you can save a fortune, but always check with Argos because they compete with PC World, don’t ask me how I know that one lol lol lol

May I just add that another safe way to back up important work etc ..
open a googlemail account and send all your work to it.. That way if your PC hard drives ever fail..you have an online back up system! :):)

Seagate are very good but I have a Verbatim at the moment and it's also very good. Not expensive for what it is and very, very quiet.
