Hi,

I THINK it was princess audrey who was asking about these....(sorry, my memory is like a sieve!:funny:) so I thought if I started a new thread, those who use the BigShot could add their own ideas/experiences here too.

I have lots of different alphabet dies that I use in my BigShot. I use Sizzix dies, Cuttlebug dies, and Quickutz dies (which you need to use with a Sizzix adaptor, which is a small piece of black plastic, and readily available from most retailers.) My favourites are the Quickutz 2x2 dies, but that is totally a personal preference thing!

I have bought mine over several years, and many of them have been 2nd hand from ebay, and they cut just as well as the new ones I have bought. You can often get new ones on ebay too, and in my experience they are usually a LOT cheaper than buying from other retailers online etc. I do also look out for sales etc on some of the sites that sell them.

I hope that is useful to you, and hopefully other members will have their own opinions/experiences to add which should make your buying decisions even easier! :) I do hope you find what you're looking for.....enjoy researching, and buying!!! :well done::funny:

I've got 2 Ellison Design Alphabets. Tiffy Taffy and Mac'n'cheese.

I think when I do get another set I would opt for a wider Alphabet as these are pretty thin which makes them a bit of a pain to stick. Which wouldn't be a problem if I had an x-thingymeebob that makes the sticker sheets :funny:

Ali has some nice chunky ones (alphabet dies :funny:)

:funny: :funny: :funny: Debbie, you are SO RIGHT, I DO have some 'chunky ones'!!!! ......Oh, were we talking about dies??? :funny: :funny: :funny:

Some of the die-cut letters can be very thin and fiddly to handle, I agree with you on that one Deb......I find it not too bad if I use a 'quickie glue pen' to stick them down, and I also sometimes use a 'Quickutz pick up tool', which has a thin plastic chiselled end and a 'tacky' end on the other, a bit like blu-tac.....you keep using the tacky stuff til it loses its 'stickiness' then pull it off and twist the tool and fresh 'tacky' squeezes out.....it lasts ages. :) I bought the pick up tool from ebay, and the quickie glue pens you can get most places. :)

They certainly are more time-consuming and fiddly to use when creating sentiments, but I reckon its worth it. ;)

Just a thought but have you considered using Crafters Companions Stick N Stay spray adhesive for the more intricate letters?

It's really good, cut your letters as normal, then pop them in to something like a tidy tray and spray the adhesive over the back!! You have 2 minutes to reposition for it becomes permanent :D:D

I use there Stick N Spray for rubber stamps as this one is a repositional one but stickiness lasts for ages :D:D

Glad to be of help :well done:

Don't forget they also do the spray and sparkle range so you could also have sparkling letters.

I have a cuttlebug which I don't think I have used for 12 month now omg

Really should start to use it and think I need to invest in some nestabilities.
