View Full Version : Cutline Settings In Inkscape

Hi, I wondered if any of you might be able to help me.

I've been learning how to make templates in Inkscape rather than the Robomaster program that comes with the silhouette so that I can save the files as both .dxf and .gsd but I am a little confused (believe me, not at all hard to do :funny:) with the cutline settings.

In robomaster there is an option in the cutline settings so that you can determine whether it's a straight cut, or a dashed line which you govern by the coloured lines.

As I only have a silhouette cutting machine and cannot test any templates saved in the dxf format without the robomaster program being started, could anybody tell me whether it is safe to say that if the line in question has been altered with the Fill/Stroke command to change it to red, that a different machine would be able to tell the difference between the two different lines?

I don't know if this is a daft question, but knowing me it probably is, I just can't seem to get my head around making sure the fold lines are not cut fully. Or would anybody know a different program that is compatible with the silhouette in which I could test the dxf files.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much

:funny::funny: Thanks Tina :funny::funny:

I'll still go forum hopping to see if I can find an answer to this one - but I appreciate you having a read just in case you knew the answer :well done::funny:

I might be a bit late here, but as far as I'm aware, another machine won't recognise what the different coloured lines are for.

Even in Robomaster you have to make sure that you go into the cutline settings and tell it to cut black and dash red, or whatever colour you've used. I have never got on with Inkscape so I use Illustrator, but I still have to tell Robo what to do with each colour line.

If you've found the answer somewhere else and I'm wrong, I'd like to know.

If you want to test DXF files, you can send them to me to test for you if you like, Debbie. I'd be more than happy to help.

Thank you so much Lorraine you're a star :D :well done::well done:

As soon as I get a minute I will have another go with some dxf files and send them on to you.

Thanks again I really do appreciate it :).
